O my! After 12 years of love and happiness, I just lost my little Gidgie girl on Saturday, April 2, 2011. I feel your loss… the silence in the house… the moments of forgetting she is gone… or thinking I hear her tiny little nails as she walked the hardwood floor.
Its amazing how such a tiny little ball of fur could have taken such a HUGE part of my heart!
Thanks for the memories, Gidgie girl! Forever In Our Hearts!
My thoughts are with you, Mary!

Upon hearing of Gidget’s passing I felt sadness followed by happiness at having known such a blythe spirit. I’ve known you since puppyhood and delighted in watching you grow up. And a great life you had, cavorting with rockstars and bringing pride and pleasure to your mom Mary. I will never forget how you strutted about the Four Seasons in Austin like you owned the place. You’ll be missed mon cherie, but not forgotten.

Gidget will always be the ultimate furry rock star… whether it’s bringing together amazing people around Mary’s campfires and animal charity work or pulling one of her acting “stunts” or just being cute as all hell asking for a scratch on the belly. I can’t believe how this adorable little creature has impacted my life and so many other’s as well. We will miss you and god knows when I die I hope I come back as one of Mary’s pets because I know I’ll be spoiled rotten!

Gidget my love i was just at your house and it made me so sad to not have you sneezing at my feet for treats ,following me around , jumping on me and sleeping next to me.I will always miss you. Some might say I loved you for your celebrity status( I can be like that:) but I really loved you for your indomitable spirit.You never let your size get in the way of dominating dogs and people alike. Dear Mary,
While reading your blog about your life with Gidget, I could not help but relate to your story. The reason I got Macarena was to take away the pain of miscarriage followed by discovering I was infertile. She came into my life three months after 9/11 and a couple of weeks after miscarrying. A week after I got her, she broke her leg. She was 8 months old. A few months later she broke her other leg and needed surgery. I kept thinking I was this terrible mother and no wonder I couldn’t have children ! Luckily, she finally realized she was no acrobat.
Macarena has lived in four homes and now two states. She’s gone through a divorce with me and now a new relationship. Her sensitivity towards my emotions blows me away and sometimes scares me because I am afraid she will try to take on my pain.
Tango came five years later and he is a joy, but he is not as astute as Macarena. He is however a fabulous tear licker !
So here’s to the joy that our furry babies have given us ! May we hold those memories close to our hearts and let the sadness wash away with the tears.
You and Gidget have done great things and with her memory you can continue to do great things !

Gidget, you were a shining star here on earth, and the heavens shine more brightly now that you are there. From the moment we first met, I could feel your immense spirit and irrepressible personality–a little dog with big heart! Thanks for the joy and love you’ve brought to so many. Gidge was a very special dog who brought so much joy and happiness to so many. She will be so missed as she crosses the Rainbow Bridge. Every time you saw Gidge you could not help but smile as you looked into her little brown eyes. Mary I know your heart aches yet there is comfort knowing Gidge is now running around with Mocus, Snuffy and all the wonderful friends she brought so much joy to their lives.
