Catamount Dog Park Grand Opening and Festivities!
May 19, 2010 on 10:03 pm | By dragon | In Uncategorized | 1 CommentHave you ever wondered if your pet could be a star? Well, now you can find out by coming to the Emerson Resort on May 30 from 3-7! Cathryn Long, talent agent to the 4 legged divas, will judge a Pet Talent Contest together with Linda Blick of Tails of Hope Foundation and Ted Gibson, celebrity hairstylist. There will also be a silent auction to benefit Ulster County SPCA AND a special Catamount Dog Park menu at the Catamount Restaurant. All this to celebrate the opening of the new dog park at the Emerson Resort and Spa . Come join Gidget in her special appearance at the dog park in celebration of the opening of the Sex and the City 2 movie that weekend (she has donated some of her film wardrobe to raise money for the SPCA) and enjoy the new “pup grade” amenities at the Emerson!

When:
May 8, 2010
3-8 PM
Gallery show running May 8-16.
Why:
People love their pets and their pets are part of their family. Maybe their only family. Hard economic times put people in difficult situations when they are faced with the choice of not being able to feed their pets or giving them up. Lynn Gitter is graciously donating a major part of her body of artwork in order to raise funds for Friends of Snuffy, a charitable organization which helps to keep pets in their homes by helping provide pet food to those who otherwise could not continue to afford to feed their pets. The purchaser gets a tax deductible receipt for the preset percentage that goes to Friends of Snuffy, and gets to go home with a beautiful piece of art. There are paintings of various sizes, sculptures, and necklaces.
Cost:
The event is free and open to the public. At this gallery exhibition opening event, there will be art, music, refreshments, and other entertainment.
Many thanks to Lynn Gitter, Alexander Turnquist, and our other participating artists, John Eric Byers, Ric Dragon, Zoya Geacintov, Kira Greene, Pat Horner, Jeff Leonard, Sally Rothchild, Anique Taylor as well as all contributors and volunteers for the event.

Meet Trew...
She’s 38 lbs of furry love
click here for the “Trew” story
She started out as “Chewy” then “Trudy” and will now be known as “Trew”
and here is the beginning of her story as told by her foster mom Cathy Freitas of H.A.R.T Rescue of UT
“Oh my goodness I love this gal. She is so sweet.
She was a stray that was taken in by some people who decided that they couldn’t keep her.
She is well behaved, and eager to please.
Ginger didn’t like her right away, but Luna LOVES her. She and Luna rampaged around the yard for a couple hours the first night we had her.
I had to give her a bath, as she smelled pretty bad, but I couldn’t brush her mats out. So I did what I could, and let the AMAZING wonderful gals at All Fur Love groomers to do their magic on her today!
Then we took her to the dog park to play while we visited with some good friends (we got to see Kiya too!) and laughed as all the dogs played.
Wow, she sure was having fun!
I’m sure that we won’t have any problem at all finding this special girl a home. She’s gorgeous and sweet… doesn’t get any better than that.”
This is what I first read on Cathy’s Blog that made me fall in love with Trew
I originally found her while combing through petfinder.com over the holidays
Thanks to Lorraine Pak of H.A.R.T rescue of UT Trew will be flying to New York on Pet Airways and will be in her Forever home with Gidget this Friday.
I would also like to thank Namrata Chand of BestFriends.org for assisting with Trew’s travel arrangements.

Gidget Supports Snuffy’s Pet Food Pantry Program!
July 7, 2009 on 5:24 pm | By marygormley | In Uncategorized | No CommentsKIDSTOCK® TAKES OVER BELLEAYRE MOUNTAIN AUGUST 23RD
HOSTED BY AND FEATURING UNCLE ROCK & THE PLAYTHINGS WITH SPECIAL GUESTS PAUL GREEN’S SCHOOL OF ROCK
FREE FAMILY CONCERT AND INTERACTIVE FESTIVAL TO BENEFIT FRIENDS OF SNUFFY’S FOOD PANTRY PROGRAM
PLEASE BRING A PET FOOD DONATION FOR OUR FURRY & FEATHERED FRIENDS IN NEED
The hills of Belleayre Mountain are alive with the sounds and sights of ROCK! Commemorating the 40th anniversary of the original Woodstock Festival, Uncle Rock, the Belleayre Music Conservatory and original festival co-producer Michael Lang of Woodstock Ventures bring you KIDSTOCK®!
Family music troubadour Uncle Rock will host and kick off the festivities at 1PM. Backed by the Playthings, the rockin’ Uncle performs original songs that combine the heart of Pete Seeger with the upbeat rhythms of the Beatles, James Brown, and the Ramones. Following Uncle Rock will be special guests, Paul Green’s School of Rock All-Stars. Ranging in age from kindergarten to high school, this band is the cream of the world-renowned Paul Green’s School of Rock, the real-life inspiration behind the Jack Black movie. Their “Tribute to the Music of Woodstock” will close the day.
Festivalgoers of all ages are encouraged to dress in the style of their favorite musical era or musician. Everyone will get an eyeful at the Rock & Roll Fashion Show, which will feature small fry strutting the stage in everything from punk to hip hop to glam fashions.
For a donation to Friends of Snuffy’s pet food pantry program, you can take the Musical Woodland Journey which brings a combination of history and social consciousness to KIDSTOCK®. By walking through the surrounding trees, wayfaring festival attendees will get an opportunity to encounter music pioneers from Robert Johnson to Janis Joplin to Johnny Rotten. In addition, they will sponsor a Kids’ Pet Poetry Reading; kids can recite poems about their fine feathered and furred friends, or they can compose them on the spot at the FOS booth.
Founded in 2006 by music business vet Mary Gormley, Friends of Snuffy is a 501c3 non-profit organization whose current mission is to help animals stay out of shelters by providing food for owners hit by hard economic times. Previous Snuffyfests have included a James Blunt concert and silent auction, featuring items donated by artists from Sheryl Crow to Peter Max to Eminem.
A multi-generational event, KIDSTOCK® will be a chance for kids, parents and grandparents to have a shared rock and roll experience that will include classic tunes, audience participation, wicked clothes, a music history lesson, and social consciousness. With air guitar, face painting, hula hoops, a kids’ clothing swap, a silent auction and more, KIDSTOCK® promises to be a memorable summer event for the time capsule Ð much like a certain festival held in these same hills forty years ago this year.
KIDSTOCK® is part of the Belleayre Music Festival that takes place on the grounds of Belleayre Mountain. For more information please visit www.belleayremusic.org. Tickets for other music festival events can be purchased at Ticketmaster.

At her newly redecorated apartment, a back-to-blonde Carrie got ready to throw a party. When Samantha arrived, she rendered the girls speechless with her two new “pooches”- the one in her bag and the one around her middle.
“Did you ever think you’d see the day- me with a pooch?”
Kim Cattrall comments: For the pooch scene, Patricia Field put me in these pants that were too tight at the waist, and the top was too tight on my arms, which made them look bigger. With the shooting schedule the way it was, I couldn’t pull a Robert De Niro and actually gain weight. – Amy Sohn from “Sex and the City“
