Gidget’s home town Phoenicia Needs Your Vote for the Coolest Small Town Contest!

January 15, 2011 on 3:07 pm | By | In Uncategorized | Comments Off

Mary and Gidget in Phoenicia, NYBudget Travel, the ”world’s most useful travel magazine” has nominated 20 American towns to be in their annual “Top 10 Coolest Small Town” contest and Phoenicia is one of them!   The criteria for this designation is “…a town with a little bit of an edge, more avant-garde than quaint” and we all know that the coveted award is custom made for our small Catskills village of Phoenicia.  However, there are only 10 slots and the winners are determined by an online voting process that allows 1 vote every 5 hours.  The contest ends on February 11, 2011 and the winners will be featured in the September 2011 Budget Travel Magazine.  Given that our small town has a population of only 433 residents, we will need to reach out to all of our friends, neighbors, and anyone who has visited Phoenicia and have been captivated by its mountains, rivers, music festivals, parades, celebrations, seasonal color, art, performances, sports and activities and get them all to place a vote for us on the Budget Travel website (www.bit.ly/coolestsmalltown).  Not only will our town get the much deserved recognition that comes with this prestigious designation but wonderful events like the Phoenicia Festival of the Voice and area businesses will all benefit from the international spotlight on Phoenicia as one of the “Top 10 Coolest Small Town in the USA”!

Gidget gets a new sister….a Trew story

January 19, 2010 on 9:43 pm | By | In Uncategorized | 3 Comments
Meet Trew...

Meet Trew...

She’s 38 lbs of furry love

click here for the “Trew” story

She started out as “Chewy” then “Trudy” and will now be known as “Trew”

and here is the beginning of her story as told by her foster mom Cathy Freitas of H.A.R.T Rescue of UT

“Oh my goodness I love this gal. She is so sweet.

She was a stray that was taken in by some people who decided that they couldn’t keep her.
She is well behaved, and eager to please.

Ginger didn’t like her right away, but Luna LOVES her. She and Luna rampaged around the yard for a couple hours the first night we had her.

I had to give her a bath, as she smelled pretty bad, but I couldn’t brush her mats out. So I did what I could, and let the AMAZING wonderful gals at All Fur Love groomers to do their magic on her today!
Then we took her to the dog park to play while we visited with some good friends (we got to see Kiya too!) and laughed as all the dogs played.
Wow, she sure was having fun!

I’m sure that we won’t have any problem at all finding this special girl a home. She’s gorgeous and sweet… doesn’t get any better than that.”

This is what I first read on Cathy’s Blog that made me fall in love with Trew

I originally found her while combing through petfinder.com over the holidays

Thanks to Lorraine Pak of H.A.R.T rescue of UT Trew will be flying to New York on Pet Airways and will be in her Forever home with Gidget this Friday.

I would also like to thank Namrata Chand of BestFriends.org for assisting with Trew’s travel arrangements.

Family music troubadour Uncle Rock will host and kick off the festivities at 1PM. Following Uncle Rock will be special guests, Paul Green’s School of Rock All-Stars. Ranging in age from kindergarten to high school, this band is the cream of the world-renowned Paul Green’s School of Rock, the real-life inspiration behind the Jack Black movie. At her newly redecorated apartment, a back-to-blonde Carrie got ready to throw a party.  When Samantha arrived, she rendered the girls speechless with her two new “pooches”- the one in her bag and the one around her middle.
“Did you ever think you’d see the day- me with a pooch?”
Kim Cattrall comments:  For the pooch scene, Patricia Field put me in these pants that were too tight at the waist, and the top was too tight on my arms, which made them look bigger.  With the shooting schedule the way it was, I couldn’t pull a Robert De Niro and actually gain weight.  – Amy Sohn from “Sex and the City

…Gidget and I flew out to LA to shoot scenes with Kim on the beach in Malibu.  It was a great day of shooting although once between shots, Gidget took a runner for a seabird right into the water and needed some grooming.  During the shoot, Kim walked up and down the beach leading Gidget with the call of “treats treats” Kim was an excellent animal wrangler and constantlyreminded Gidget that she had “bisquits” in her hand until I cued Gidget off-camera.  At one point, Michael Patrick King (the director)  asked Kim “Why is your mouth always moving while you are walking?” And Kim replied “I’m telling Gidget that I have treats!”
